Things don't just happen, there are always many subtle factors involved in any event, large or small; therefore it is extremely important to be very careful of you words and actions as they are the building block of what happens. When life goes smoothly we don't very often take the time to examine the details of the normal daily experience such as driving to work or eating dinner, but when events occur that cause disruption in our life or world, our attention becomes focused on the particular aspect of our reality. In addition, when major events take place, such as a natural disaster, we turn our focus away from ourselves and the disruptions of our personal and witness situations that make our lives seem much better than we considered.
We try to make sense of and look for reasons for these tragedies to have occurred, but we cannot. We sympathize with those directly affected; ranges of emotions are created, such as gratitude for our own lives, sorrow for the sufferings of others and perhaps even a general taking stock of our own values and standards. What we do not usually consider are possibilities that such events, as the major earthquakes that have recently occurred are the result of the consciousness of the earth and it inhabitants creating situations that result in major shifts of human, and Earthy demographics. It is said that we make agreements about our lives before we are born, perhaps even agreeing to participate in disasters that will affect groups of people or entire populations. In addition, the Earth has consciousness and is part of the rapidly evolving evolutionary process which is now occurring, so when she is going through changes we might be the ones to feel it.
Right now the world population of humans has been focused on a small island, hit by an earthquake. What has occurred in the world as a result? We all know there has been unimaginable suffering, but there has also been much unity and a lot of money circulated to help the victims. This is a shift. Two hundred million dollars was raised in one week to help. People forgot about their religious, political and other beliefs and joined together to help, pray and send healing energy to people they have never met. It is something that we could be doing all the time, yet it takes an event of this magnitude to bring people together and to allow them to express their generosity on such a large scale.
We all know of the tragedy and heartbreaking stories of the Earthquake in Haiti, but after the horror is examined, there remains extraordinary good in the mix as well. Generosity beyond measure; people texting money, rescue workers risking their lives to save others, doctors and relief workers leaving their homes and families, entertainers performing to raise millions of dollars and newscasters keeping us informed of the situation and showing us people very much like ourselves. Millions of people around the world are touched by this crisis, sending prayers, good will, positive energy and light to those directly affected. The outpouring of concern and willingness to help is something we do not see often enough.
During this time our problems seem smaller or sometimes non-existent. We have food, water, access to medical care and a life of luxury in light of the conditions there. We have a new view of our lives and what we have; we are more grateful for all of it. We can have breakfast, lunch, we can take showers and have lattes. We haven’t lost our home, job, family members and the place where we live all in 10 minutes.
All of the positive energy and actions that have been generated by the Earthquake translates into a powerful dose of Love that is being sent to a nation which has been only referred to occasionally as the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. The concern and caring of millions of people has the ability to lift the spirits of a country taken to its lowest level. But there is more to the story; when you give, you receive, therefore there are millions of us who are also being lifted by our actions, prayers and thoughts. So out of the ashes of destruction and suffering, we are seeing the best of humanity and it is uplifting us to become aware of what we are capable of doing, feeling and being. Let us keep this image in our hearts and minds and use it as a template for our lives.
